common rail diesels

Common rail diesel engine is a specific type of engine which is working on different principle compared to many other engines. It features an intelligent system that ensures that fuel is delivered to the engine very efficiently. The key advantage of this system is that it induces the engine to consume less fuel for every distance travelled. This is super important because that means you could keep money in your pocket for fuel costs!

On top of that, using less fuel is better for our environment. They are less polluting than other diesel types. This means they are more environmentally friendly, and in the age of climate change, this far more something we should all care about. These are just a couple of examples of how we can be environmentally friendly just by using these engines.

Essential Components of Common Rail Diesel Engines

Fuel in the tank is pumped out and through a special filter. This filter is the most important because it filters the fuel. It cleans out dirt or bad stuff that may hurt the engine. Once the fuel is purified, it goes to a high-pressure fuel pump. And this pump forces fuel through high pressure and prepares it to run in the engine. That pressure can be intense, as much as 30,000 PSI!

Once the fuel has been pressurized, it goes through a long tube called a fuel rail. The fuel rail feeds smaller components known as fuel injectors. These injectors are instrumental in that process. They send the correct amount of fuel to the different units of the engine called cylinders. This exacting delivery of fuel enables the engine to function in the most efficient and smooth manner.
